I totally don't have anything of great importance to share with the group, but I feel compelled to tell you I posted a VERY easy, very yummy Mango Sweet-n-Spicy recipe over at Chop. Stir. Mix.
Then of course, I had to go to Wegman's to get fresh Mahi Mahi filets to eat the awesome salsa with. I haven't been to Wegman's in months and it was like reuniting with an old love. They have "customer with child" parking! Close to the store! And not only did I have Charlotte with me, I am also "with child" and snickered to myself as I pulled into the spot, because yes, I really am that corny.
They have sushi! and bread! and muffins! and soup! and pizza! and an Asian section! and tons of organic stuff! I had to stop myself from having a stroke and remember we only came for Mahi Mahi. And by the grace of some higher being, I left with only my four fish fillets, and two packages of Thai summer rolls, two bagels, and one California sushi roll. Do you guys have this wonderful Mecca of all supermarkets by you? It's a good thing it's 20 minutes away, because I seriously think I'd be poor if I lived closer to one.

I live in Rochester, NY where Wegman's started. I can get to 3 different Wegman's within 5 minutes of me. I like them for meat, produce, and breads. We go to Tops for the rest b/c Wegman's is more costly.
I have never heard of Wegman's but it sounds amazing! I think the closest thing we have is Whole Foods- almost an hour away. Nora is sad.
I'm from Rochester...the fact that I live so far from Wegman's is something that makes me cry. The Pittsford Wegman's is like my Mecca.
We have Jungle Jims... http://www.junglejims.com/index.asp
It's AMAZING, but 45 min. away so we dont get by there very often.
No Wegman's for me, but I've experienced the heaven of them numerous times when I vist my aunt in Syracuse. H-E-A-V-E-N!
And now? I'm on my way to your house for dinner.
:)
No Wegman's here in ME. We have a Whole Foods, but it's in Portland and that's just too far of a drive for me for some wicked expensive food.
Never had Mahi Mahi, but I'd like to try it. I'm the only one who eats real seafood in this family~the kids like fish sticks, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE salmon, haddock, etc. But alas, I cannot eat it all myself (well, I could, but that's just not ladylike).
I live across from the Canadian equivalent - sushi bar, organic section, etc etc. It's great. Why go to a cheap grocery store when you can spend double at the store across the street.
I dream of Wegman's. Seriously I walked in that place for the first time in 2006 in Rochester NY (I was there for my cousin's wedding) and I thought I have arrived at my dream grocery store!! I was giddy. I bought three bags of food for a two day stay in a hotel room and most of our meals were wedding events... Those muffins... MMMMM... I made my husband go in there after I went to see what I was talking about. He came out a little glassy eyed!
NO we do not have anything like Wegman's in Indiana. Just Kroger (talk about Bah) and Marsh. I miss Wild Oats and Scotts in Fort Wayne IN (Scotts was a tiny bit like Wegman's...)
My first job was in high school as a cashier at a Wegmans in Erie, PA. I've been devoted ever since! I like them for deli meats, regular meat, their bakery stuff, and certain Wegmans brand things (like their BBQ chips, yum). Not to mention the ethnic aisles and the organic section. AND back in the day (before Netflix), we used to rent movies from them, too.
The closest one to where we live now in VA is about 45 minutes away. Too far. But they are opening a new one, like, next week, in a town about 15 minutes away! I CANNOT wait. Seriously. I can't believe I am this excited about a grocery store.
