We all know I have a toddler, a newborn, and a brain full of the same mush that is on the table next to the comb and brush in Goodnight Moon.
So it should come as no surprise that when I ordered Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred DVD from Amazon, that my dumb ass would do this:Yep, I ordered two. No idea how, but I did. Everything else in the order was fine, but it's just as well since I've decided to give one to YOU. I know, I know. I'm such a philanthropist.
I ordered it after I heard a bunch of buzz about it on Twitter and from Linda at All and Sundry. For those of you that don't know her, Jillian Michael's is one of the trainers on The Biggest Loser, known for her aggresive and no-nonsense no-crap style and I always liked her the best. Normally, I hate workout videos and had tried a bunch on our cable On Demand. They all sucked and I stopped all of them within minutes, thereby significantly reducing the effectiveness of said workout. I felt corny, even alone in my own house, and couldn't get the coordination down. They said left, but it was MY left and they were going right which was supposed to confuse me less since I'd be moving the same way as them on TV but it actually confused me MORE. I suppose from marching in my stint in the ROTC while in high school and from my years of step aerobics that I'm used to listening for the command rather than watching it on TV. They'd say left, but go right, and I'd go right, but they meant left, and in a small living room with a blond, it was a disaster. I'm surprised there was nothing broken, in my house or body.
This video was nothing like that at all. No weird moves, no left or right, just 20 minutes of ass-kicking. And she's not corny at all: "If you're looking for the modified version of the jumping jack, look elsewhere. I have 400-pound people doing jumping jacks, you can do it too." She was motivating and stern while being supportive and encouraging.
I prefer the gym but there are some days that I just won't be able to go if I want to like, sleep, or something crazy, so to have this in the house to be able to pop in and be done in 20 minutes is great.
And now, you can have one in your house too! Just leave a comment by Monday night and I'll use a Random Number Generator to chose the winner.
If you need something to say, tell me what your favorite workout song is. What gets your ass moving?

Fun! I have been looking for this video everywhere -- because I share your "I feel like an idiot" feeling when doing home workouts. But this sounds great!
The other one that I like is Tae Bo - I am HORRIBLY uncoordinated, so doing kick boxing in a class setting just makes me feel retarded. But at home its better...or at least I feel less like an idiot.
Regular areobics class I can do, the instructor faces the mirror, so when she says right, we all go right. But I don't belong to the gym right now, so a dvd would be good.
I don't know the actual name of the song but the one that goes "let me see your tootsie roll" always makes me shake my booty.
Workout song? What's that? Just kidding. Hmmm, don't know if I have one really, but maybe if I win this video I'll get one. How about that?
During my run a few weeks ago, I learned that Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode" totally got my tired ass to finish my run when I was ready to start walking. It makes you feel like a badass.
Don't laugh... 4 Minutes by Madonna... it's one of my favorites. I usually try to do Yoga and walk but I'm signed up for a prenatal hip hop class! OYE!!

ok, favorite current work out song is...(dont gag) GIMME MORE by ms spears.
count me in on the random drawing for a less jiggly midsection...
PICK ME!! PICK ME!! My moronic self has been struggling to go to the gym. I have issues with working out around others. My crazy self-esteem/self-image. I neeeeed a good workout DVD.
My favorite song to work out to? Flo Rida's "Low". I like it. And, it reminds me that if I want to wear jeans that don't sit under my rib cage, I need to work that ass :)
Ummmmm. Hi. I don't have a favorite workout song just yet. My poor treadmill is gathering dust again while I fight off this sinus infection.
With a baby due in October, I will be ready to join you on "The Life After Baby" soon... would love to win the DVD to help with that quest.
I don't have a favorite but I love anything club/techno related.
I want the video...please, please!!
I love Jillian - she is always my favorite, and was so glad when the female that she trained won (the first woman to win btw) the Biggest Loser this past season. She is such a kick ass bitch and I love her, because not only is she full of hardcore bitch she is full of heart and never cares if her team wins, only that they all succeed in losing the weight and getting healthy and happy.
I will entertain you with a list of workout dvd's stacked next to my dvd player right now:
Carmen Electra Cardio Strip Tease (not joking and no, it's not pretty)
Yoga Booty Ballet (sadly, I kind of like this one)
The FIRM (not the new version the circa 1984 version with the thong bodysuits)
Kathy Smith - some Walking thing that sucks because she's always wrong with the verbal cue's
Trubo Jam (I opened it, I put the 20 minute DVD in the DVD player and have yet to press play)
I'm a sucker for workout videos that I never do (or do for a week). Count me in!
you know my fat @ss needs this.
I can't wait for Belle to get to preschool so I can get to the gym again. countdown - 1 more week!
ahhh workout songs! My husband has a "Bri gets pumped up" playlist on our IPOD, but I can't for the life of me remember the songs it includes.
My personal favorite is Justin Timberlake's "Bringing Sexy Back." I actually just downloaded it & was informed that I'm about 2 years behind. Oh well.
Classes on DVD are SOOO much better than at the gym. The last time I went to a gym class, the teacher made a comment about people needing to be careful about bending each leg equally while lifting. I knew she was looking at me, but I ignored her, figuring I could talk to her afterward. After awhile, she actually SINGLED ME OUT IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS to tell me I was bending one leg too much, so I was forced to say in front of everyone that I actually have one leg longer than the other, so one leg HAS to bend more (this is true, and the 1in difference caused me to have scoliosis). HUMILIATING. Plus, I was in the center of the room, so everyone took turns staring at me from all directions. I know they were mentally measuring my legs. Ugh.
Um, I don't exactly workout enough to have a favorite workout song. I AM, however, sick of Carmen Electra's strip aerobics video, and I'm tired of Billy Blanks and his cardio crap. I'd love a new workout! I've been reading you and Sundry talking about this video on Twitter, too, and if I don't win, I'm gonna go buy it myself.
I'd much rather win it, though. ;)
There was a workout mix at my gym that they did during Boot Camp. I really liked it until they decided to change it up. The music stunk and didn't match the beat to the workout. Since I no longer belong to a gym, a video would be great.
You know, a couple of weeks ago, I ordered books from Amazon and got two, checked and I only ordered one. So maybe that's what happened?
Nope, I checked. Ordered two somehow. Am a tool.
I thought you were going to say that you ordered the wrong thing :)....thanks for being willign to share. I alternate between enjoying the gym and enjoying video. The key is finding something that holds my attention over the long run....I have used a variety. Right now, I have: TaeBo, Biggest Loser workouts, a dance-type produced by MTV, and Yoga Booty Ballet.
Me! Me! I want this DVD so very badly and with three kids and a deadbeat ex there is just no funds for it in my budget! I just keep telling myself to get off my butt and walk and I'll reward myself with the DVD after I lose 10lbs. Hasn't happened yet.
And good luck with it!!!
**crossing fingers**
I haven't done a workout video since I illegally copied a Jane Fonda video back in the 80's. BTW I weighed about 40 lb. less then. I've lost 30 doing South Beach, but I've been off that all summer and I need a kick start. I want that video!!
I love Jillian too! I think she rocks and man, I'd KILL to have her body!
My favorite work out song is "I like to Move It." I don't even know who it's by and it's really old now (80's? 90's?) but for some reason, if it comes on, I feel like running a mile.
I so want this video.....
Fav song to work out with.........."It's raining men.' but the version by Geri Halliwell - as used in the Bridget Jones films....
sweet! my girlfriend has one of the biggest loser workout tapes and she says it KICKS your ass. sweet. i love jillian!
favorite workout song: shake it by metro station (my current fave). have you seen the video? it rocks!
do you have On Demand (Comcast or Insight)? You can do these free on there!! I am excited to start doing her shred stuff on there soon!
me and my fat ass need this dvd in a bad way!! my favorite booty shakin' song is "work it" by Missy Elliott!! love your blog!!!!!
i would love to have my ass kicked by miss jillian. as for a workout song ..unwritten by natasha benignfeld...
If I won this, I would totally share my weight loss progress with you.
Just you, though! :)
I don't really have a favorite workout song. But, if you want to prove to yourself that you have zero coordination and are not even remotely sexy, try Carmen Electra's striptease workout.
OOOooo! I really want to win this. Since I will be giving birth in aproximately one month, I will soon need to "shred" something. I'm guessing my @ss and belly. I may even go buy it if I don't win, especially if you give us a progress report to let us know if it's working.
My favorite tune when walking or running is "Hollaback Girl". It makes me feel like high-steppin'.
ooh, I could definitely use this! I'm having a baby very soon. I like to listen to anything by Britney, her music always gets me moving
That sounds like a nice DVD! We (as in it was a family decision!) decided to purchase the Wii Fit so that we ALL use it. Of course I haven't but really should, someday...maybe tomorrow. Hope S & C nap so you can enjoy it.
I've heard great things about this DVD too. I'm a big fan of the home workout videos. But I've been known just sit there with a Diet Coke and a cookie and watch those people sweat.
I have a feeling that Jillian would like know that I wasn't working though. And I sort of already feel guilty...
oooh oooh oooh please please please me!
Even though I know i won't win because I never win, but please me anyway :-).
I love her, she scares the crap outta me, but I adore her just the same.
XOXO
I'd love to win this!
I love Jillian, and was so happy she came back to TBL.
I really don't remember any workout songs off the top of my head. It's been WAY too long. But my CD collection is pretty much dance music from college ('95-'99) and that's what I have in my iPod to run to....soon.
Pick me random number thingy!! ;)
i actually don't want to win, as I already have this. But I wanted to say how great it is...i think it is a really good workout video. She totally kicks my butt.
I would SO love this video. All over the WW boards they are talking about how awesome it is!
If I were to actually workout to a video (or aerobics class), which I may have done like 4 times in my life, I think I would chose these songs: Sir Mixalot - Baby got Back, Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy, or anything techno (LOL).
I heart Jillian and The Biggest Loser! I find that it is my strongest motivator to exercise and I really need to so Send It! please
Cheers!
Gwen Stefani...gets me movin'!!! I tried belly dancing workout dvd's. BAD, very, very BAD. If i had to hear this 6-foot-rail-thin- dressed-like-I-Dream-of-Jeanie, beotch tell me to "shake my kundaleeny" (sp?) 1 more time, I was going to call her tell her where she could stick that kundaleeny.
My hubby ordered 2 FLIP Videos for me for mother's day. It had something to do with the 1-click ordering feature. We did not giveaway the extra, though.
I like my kids' music to get me moving. Laurie Berkner and Hannah Montana both get this party started.
When I exercise to music I like to listen to The Faint. It's so much fun to dance to them!
Oddly my one my favorites is "Eye of the Tiger." It reminds me of Rocky movies. Also.......the band I was in with all the neighborhood boys. Of course, any remembrance of myself rocking out in parachute pants and a tambourine gets me moving.
Sharing of sweat is quite generous! :)
You know I had the same thing happen when I ordered maternity jeans through Amazon a few months ago. Of course, since I can actually use the jeans, I wasn't nice enough to have a contest.
As for workout songs, it's been so long since I've done a real workout. . .do the Wiggles count? We dance to them.
In a moment of weakness, I ordered 10 Minute Trainer from an infomercial at 2 in the morning. At the time it seemed like a good idea. Count me in on the drawing! I love guilt-inducing DVDs.
I found you from sunshine's meme post. I just finished it and was curious what other people said.
(PS: Ten Minute Trainer really does kick my butt in 10 minutes. Especially the abs part after having two kids.)
i NEED a video that will motivate me! i'm in need of shedding some weight badly.
I never win anything but what the heck..lol
Oh, that sounds great. I just need some motivation.
Ok, I have been looking for a really good excuse to get up off my a** and excercise so I guess this video works for me! No specific work out music per se but any old 80's song will do!
I wanna win
I know I'll probably curse your name and the Shred person's name if I win this and do the workout, but it's time for me to step up my work out and this seems like just the perfect fresh hell to do it.
Eye of the Tiger
Totally delurking for this! Newly pregnant and I would to have this for getting the weight off after the baby comes. Justin Timberlake's songs get my butt moving!
