Overdue

I suppose if you made it the first three years without taking your child to the ER, it's considered a success. Today, we ended our streak. Thanks to some pretty fly-for-a-white-girl moves on her new trampoline, Charlotte twisted her knee in just the right way to acquire "a toddler fracture" - a very small, almost invisible fracture on her tibia often occurring from jumping/twisting, or bending a knee down a slide.

She's fine. Only has to wear it for 3 weeks and the pediatric orthopedist formed it in such a way that she can still walk on it with a boot. It's annoying to her and she's bummed but in little/no pain. I, on the other hand, have 11 years taken off my life.

Mommy was the first to sign it.

Hope she feels better soon. I am sure she will get used to it in a day or 2.

When I was 4 I fell off a wall at a playground and broke my collar bone. Less than a year later I fell off the monkey bars at a playground and broke and displaced my arm. Went to the same ER both times. The second time, child services removed my parents from the room and asked me if they hurt me or touched me. I was like no, I'm a klutz.

She and Patrick can be cast buddies!

Oh, I'm so sorry that you all had to go through that. How long were you stuck in the ER? Did she cry the whole time, or was she OK after the initial shock of it? Oh, dear.

We were in the ER when the Kid was 4 months old with breathing problems. And back again around 19 months with pnemonia. And a couple times since. But no stitches and no broken bones... *knock wood* ... yet.
The Baby has barely had a cold. He just had his first fever, but his teeth are coming in.

BTW. Trampolines are made by the devil. ;)

SO CRAZY! We took our 3 year old son to the ER last night for the first time ever. But for what we thought was a broken wrist. 10pm to midnight in the ER and we got sent home with a sprained wrist in an ace bandage. Crisis averted. He did wake up a 2 and 4 crying in pain tho. Hope she's loving her new pink accessory!

Awe..poor thing! I'm glad that she is o.k. though and it was nothing more than a little fracture. Love the pink cast :) We've never had broken bones but we did have stitches in the chin from jumping on the bed.
I agree with beachmama, trampolines are made by the devil..lol!
Just and fyi, I don't know if you have one of the big ones but our homeowners said that if they ever saw a trampoline on the property (like they would check..lol) they would cancel our policy because of the amount of accidents that occur with them each year. Scared the bejeezus out of me so we never got one...that and I almost broke my neck once on one..lol.
I can see how a long leg cast would annoy Miss C but I bet in a few days she won't be phased by it at all :)
I hope her little leg heals soon

I hate that this happened...but at least it wasn't as serious as it could have been. And the cast is awesomely girlie. And I love the pedicure!

Poor Mommy and Daddy! And poor Charlotte too, of course. But it was probably scarier for you.

my cousin did the same thing to her son going down a slide. They quizzed her about a half a dozen times checking her story. You see, it is also a sign of child abuse... (It was an honest injury, she felt like crap.)
